Asuncion, Jun 27 (Prensa Latina) Organizations belonging to the National Front for the Defense of Democracy in Paraguay carried out dozens of protests in the country”s nine departments to apply an action plan in rejection to the removal of Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo.
Activities included marches and rallies in public squares, where Lugo’s restitution in his post and the end of the government in power through the violation of constitutional and internationally recognized precepts were demanded.
Mass demonstrations occurred in the department of Concepcion including the localities of Horqueta, Arroyito and Minga Ñandu and Calle 9, while in San Pedro, they occurred in the districts of Santa Rosa del Aguaray, Lima, Liberacion, Santani, and Caplibar.
Similar rallies also took place in Plaza de la Libertad in the department of Guaira, while in Itapua department, the acts of repudiation to the government were carried out in 11 districts.
The Front also reported rallies in Alto Parana and Misiones, including Ciudad del Este, the country’s second city, as well as in the southern city of Pilar and Caaguazu, in central Paraguay.
The Front announced for today the closure of routes, especially within the country, staging nine localities of the department of San Pedro and the city of Concepcio, according to the approved chronogram.
Meanwhile in Asuncion, the number of paintings in the streets asking for Lugo’s return and sanctions for legislators who approved the political trial against the then statesman increased.
The Authentic Radical Liberal Party should have postponed the celebration of a rally at Plaza de Armas, in front of the Congress, alluding to alleged threats of a conflict in the place with opponents to Franco.
